On May 21st, at Illuminarium in the heart of The Distillery District, TUDOR and David Beckham came together with 150 guests for an exclusive evening. The event embodied the #BornToDare TUDOR spirit through visuals, audio, and immersive experiences that explored both TUDOR as a brand and their longstanding partnership with Beckham. Throughout his daring career in both sport and style, and TUDOR’s daring watchmaking, Beckham and TUDOR are a natural fit for a global ambassador.

Models such as the Pelagos Ultra and Black Bay 68 were among the 2025 models on display, while an on-site watchmaker assembled a movement in a timepiece in real time for guests to witness. Beckham was in attendance and spoke about his journey with the brand, giving guests a deeper insight into the partnership and his favourite TUDOR styles. S Magazine was in attendance and got the opportunity for an exclusive talk with Beckham held ahead of the event, hosted by Canadian sportscaster Caroline Cameron.
You’ve been a global ambassador for TUDOR since 2017. Why did you decide to work with the brand? And what do you like about the partnership?
“Well, I think I’m very lucky in business to work with great people and great companies. And for me, it’s not about signing with the biggest and the best. It’s about signing with the right people, and the right people at TUDOR just happened to be the biggest and the best. So, you know, for me, it was an easy decision, and it was an easy partnership to step into, because I knew the people that I was going into business with. When you look at the timepieces, when you look at the craftsmanship, it’s exceptional. And like I said, I like to have a long-term plan with businesses and partners, and that’s exactly what TUDOR’s vision was with me, so it was an easy decision.”
What features do you look for in a watch?
“Actually, watches have always meant something more to me. My first paycheck when I was at Manchester United, I wasn’t making much money, but my first paycheck was spent on a watch. So they’ve always meant something to me. I always say that a watch really finishes an outfit. I was always a person that, whatever I’m doing, whether I’m going to the office, whether I’m going to the gym, whether I’m going for lunch or for dinner, my first priority is what watch I’m wearing, then my outfit kind of just molds around that.”

There have been some jaw-dropping releases, as well as refined staples from TUDOR over the last couple of years. Stylistically, we want to know what aspects and design elements you gravitate towards the most?
“What do I gravitate to most… Well, as I’ve only just turned 50, ten days ago, you know, my style has changed. My style has changed to be more classic – it’s a lot more classic than it probably would have been 20 years ago. But things change. I always try to push the boundaries at certain times with certain things. But it’s more classic than anything these days.”
You mentioned now, and a belated happy birthday, that you’re kind of more classic now. How would you describe your style and how it’s evolved?
“Well, I suppose 30 years ago, I was wearing sarongs, and now I’m not. Maybe not 30 years ago, 25 years ago, I was wearing sarongs, and now I’m not, so it definitely has evolved. I would have pushed boundaries a lot more when I was 20-25 years old, but you know my style is really a classic style now. Even with my hair, I can’t do those crazy hairstyles anymore.”
