Last night, the MET Gala rolled out the blue carpet for the brightest stars in the industry, inviting them to join fashion’s biggest charity fundraiser ball for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
The gala marked the opening of the Costume Institute’s Spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The exhibition features garments, paintings, photographs, and other works that explore and propel the iconic style of Black dandies. The dress code for the night was “Tailored for You” which encouraged guests to experiment with menswear and highlight bespoke suiting details.
To bring this theme to life, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams were invited to co-chair the event, with LeBron James serving as an honorary chair. An extensive hosting committee full of artists from all industries was also called upon to support the festivities, including André 3000, Dapper Dan, Doechii, Ayo Edebiri, Spike Lee, Janelle Monáe, Angel Reese, Sha’Carri Richardson, Tyla, Usher, and more.
