Sheer Elegance Meets Utilitarian Edge at Prada Spring/Summer 2024

During Milan Fashion Week, Prada presented a hidden gem from its archives: a handbag designed by Mario Prada in 1913. This evening bag features a frame clasp adorned with a hand-carved mythological figure, reflecting Mario Prada’s fascination with historical Eastern art. Originally made in silk moiré, it has been reimagined in luxurious nappa leather and re-nylon. This revival extends to Prada’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, where the iconic bag’s clasp detail influences oversized tote styles crafted from leather and re-nylon. These creations resonate with Prada’s 110-year history, showcasing the brand’s signature craftsmanship and curiosity.

The fashion presentation unveiled a diverse range of designs, from wool-belted shorts suits to ethereal ‘Haze’ dresses in superfine organza and gazar. The collection featured fringe dresses adorned with crystals, chains, and studs, utility cabans in hand-treated cotton and patinated leather, and patchwork leather ensembles exuding elegance. Prada’s innovation extends to its handbag collection, offering top-handle bags, totes, and more in various styles with interchangeable belts and hand-embellished details.

The Prada Spring/Summer 2024 Womenswear Show celebrated the brand’s rich heritage and enduring commitment to crafting exceptional luxury pieces, taking inspiration from the past to shape the future of style.
