Michael Kors has announced today that Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has joined the brand’s global campaign, Watch Hunger Stop. In the short span of seven years, Watch Hunger Stop has delivered more than 18 million meals to the United Nations World Food Programme and its school feeding initiative. “Watch Hunger Stop helps to fund meals for schools, which has a direct impact on levelling the performance playing field for underprivileged students,” says Nyong’o. “When students can eat, they can perform better in school, which in turn leads to greater opportunities in life. In so doing, Michael Kors and WFP are facilitating better opportunities for women and girls on a daily basis.” As a strong and inspiring woman herself, Nyong’o strives to use her power and influence for better by supporting important causes that resonate with her.
This year’s Watch Hunger Stop campaign theme is based around the sentiment “Food Is Love”, focusing on the care that comes with feeding a child and in turn, supporting them so they can attend school and live out their hopes and dreams. To further the support, Michael Kors will donate an additional 100 meals when customers post a photo of themselves in their t-shirt or tote using the hashtag #watchhungerstop.
