Kim Jones went directly to the source when designing the FENDI Fall/Winter 2022 collection, pulling inspiration from Delfina Delettrez’s wardrobe, which was lifted from her mother, Silvia Venturini Fendi’s personal collection. Inspired by the brand’s previous sartorial outings, Jones noticed a lot of the pieces and patterns felt very “now,” even though some dated back to 1986. Marrying the old and new, Jones paired modern with classic, soft with sharp, and feminine with masculine. Slip dresses, tweed, and cashmere are seen throughout the collection in a stunning colour palette that will inject a cheerful brightness into autumn. As this year marks the 25th anniversary of the iconic Baguette bag, three new editions were revealed in cashmere, shearling-lined leather, and intarsia mink. The collection effortlessly introduces the O’Lock print into FENDI womenswear after its debut in the brand’s Fall/Winter 2022 menswear show in January. Kim Jones ties together the intricate details and archival inspirations seamlessly, enhancing the message that FENDI is a family brand.
