Prada Celebrates the History of Women with Fall/Winter 2022 Collection

Prada‘s co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons looked to “the history of women” when conceptualizing the brand’s Fall/Winter 2022 runway collection and show. The collaborators continued to place an emphasis on strong silhouettes and tailoring, while also experimenting with proportions for enveloping garments suitable for frigid temperatures. Unique designs and mixed textiles appeared throughout the collection, most evident in skirts that combined lace, leather, and knit, as well as faux-fur embellished wool coats for an unexpected, yet arresting sartorial statement. While looking back at the robust and nuanced history of women, the designers also gleaned Prada’s extensive ready-to-wear archive to reinterpret past creations, evident in the sophisticated evening and workwear pieces throughout the collection. To celebrate the show’s models, the brand posted home videos on its Instagram page showcasing the young catwalk luminaries before their debuts in the fashion world, including Mica ArgaraƱaz, Kendall Jenner, and Anok Yai.
