CHANEL’s Spring 2021 Haute Couture Collection Captures the Spirit of Family

When planning the Haute Couture Spring 2021 show, CHANEL creative director Virginie Viard knew it had to be smaller than usual. With this in mind, Viard came up with the idea to celebrate as if it were a small family gathering or a wedding. The spirit of family filled the Grand Palais as models walked the runway in haute couture creations ranging from voluminous ruffled skirts, signature tweed jackets, stunning gowns, all featuring brilliant details inspired by the idea of dance and summer evening soirees, with hints of menswear staples. Photographer Anton Corbijn captured the models together in the Haute Couture salons in the style of classic family portraits, as well as the celebrities and CHANEL ambassadors, such as Penélope Cruz, Lily-Rose, and Marion Cotillard, who attended the show.
