An Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Look at NYFW

Photography by Manu and Pascal.

Little known to those outside of fashion’s innermost circles (photographers, makeup artists, models, and the like), half the fun of Fashion Week occurs behind the scenes. Prior to the long-awaited runway reveal, there’s a mountain of prep, and a good dose of chaos. It’s a process in motion. The world’s top makeup artists complete their masterpieces while hot rollers cool, and the clothes find their way (with the help of stylists) onto designated models. Designers themselves help models into character with enthusiastic pre-showtime speeches, while the choreographed walks they’re about to debut, are reviewed. And all the while, the cameras flash. This year, creative duo Manu and Pascal took NYFW’s best shows by storm, capturing the electricity, the excitement, and some truly beautiful moments in this stunning photography series.

BOSS

For fall, creative director Jason Wu delivered a strict feminine collection that referenced architectural ideas that are central to BOSS. The collection included brilliant hues of punchy pink, cinnamon, emerald, ochre and grass, and asymmetrical tailoring created a beautiful curvature that flowed throughout the collection.

COACH

Team uniforms and varsity jackets were the focus at Coach for fall, where they got a major pret-a-porter makeover. Many of the brand’s recent shearling staples made a comeback with style and colour tweaks. Accessories were kept youthful, with the metallic boots being an obvious standout.

TOMMY HILFIGER

Backstage at the Park Avenue Armory, supermodels Gigi Hadid, Imaan Hammam and Instagram star-turned-model, Hailey Baldwin, hurried about donning looks from Tommy Hilfiger’s transatlantic themed fall collection. Hilfiger combined his love of all things nostalgic and nautical with the youthful energy of today.

J.MENDEL

A master of practical glamour, J.Mendel’s fall lineup included evening looks with intricate embroidery, luxuriously fur-trimmed outerwear and body-conscious daywear. We know the details will do well among the brand’s biggest fans.

CALVIN KLEIN COLLECTION

Francisco Costa’s latest creations from the Calvin Klein Collection explored the relationship between his and hers dressing, presenting this contrast in the form of loose suiting, tailored jackets and wide leg trousers. The collection featured a range of unexpected prints, that included plaid, pinstripe, and even skunk.

BEAUFILLE

Beaufille made their NYFW debut this season and garnered a (well-deserved) onslaught of buzz and attention. The label’s striking fall offering included innovative updates on signature looks along with covetable jewellery that paired beautifully with the entire collection.
