Inside the Deposito at Fondazione Prada in Milan, it was all about the skirt. With no pants in sight, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons explored how the silhouette was engineered for freedom. The show proved that many forms and possibilities exist within the design, with materials like crystal embroideries and jewelled metal snap fasteners colliding to transform perception.
Using the skirt as a guiding point, the pairings on top shows the wealth of possibilities and variations. The opening look, a red skirt with a high slit paired with a black lace bra, invites a sexier interpretation. Meanwhile, in other looks, the skirt is paired with a sweater, a shirt, or a bra top (which evolved as the show went on). Each combination changed how the skirt was read.

Prada shows us that there’s special beauty in examining familiar objects closely and embracing the different forms they can take—especially when we’re open to changes. Some skirts, secured with contrasting Velcro shades, are simple to customize; just refastening them gives the chance to change their shape or look, almost like giving a garment a new life.
As always, A-listers flocked to the show, including Alexa Chung, Camila Mendes, Charli D’Amelio, Hunter Schafer, Maya Hawke, Uma Thurman, and more. What a way to open Milan Fashion Week.
