Breathe Deep: Five Bucket-List Hotel Spas Around the World

The best vacations have equal parts adventure and leisure. Sightseeing is key, of course, but so is relaxation—after all, the body needs rest between all of those activities, be it wandering the bustling streets of Hoi An or hiking up a secluded mountain in Utah.

These days, hotels are upping the ante with onsite spas that have become destinations in their own right, offering opulent treatments in enveloping, world-class facilities. From small Caribbean nations to crowded cities, here are five luxury hotel spas to add to your bucket list.

Argos Spa at Argos in Cappadocia (Cappadocia, Türkiye)

Located underground in a series of caves that date back 2,000 years, the Argos Spa at Argos in Cappadocia is easily one of Türkiye’s best. There is so much to love here, from the classic sauna and steam rooms, to the tranquil swimming pool, to the health bar serving smoothies and coffees, to the relaxation area complete with plush recliners—all tastefully designed in soothing earth tones that evoke an instant sense of calm. Treatments range from Swedish massages and detox body scrubs to specialized facials using Valmont skincare products, but the most authentic experience on offer is the Traditional Turkish Bath, which is truly not to be missed. It begins with a full-body scrub-down, followed by an application of nourishing olive oil soap, a gentle and oh-so relaxing foam massage, and lastly, a cleansing rinse. You’ll leave feeling as clean, refreshed, and content as a baby after a bath.

Fairmont Spa at Fairmont Pacific Rim (Vancouver, Canada)

Having just wrapped up a series of extensive renovations, the Fairmont Spa at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver is once again ready for its close-up. This place is the epitome of an urban oasis, with outdoor hot tubs and lounge areas that overlook the sparkling waters of Coal Harbour. Completely rejuvenated men’s and women’s changing rooms now offer Le Labo Santal 33 bath amenities and private lounges with patio access, while the main co-ed relaxation area now includes a Himalayan salt sauna, an aromatic steam room, and a completely refreshed sitting room complete with contemporary furniture and bookshelves of objet d’art. Indulge in a 90-minute Cascade Sand & Stone Massage, designed to balance the body’s energy from head to toe: the treatment actually takes place on a warming quartz sand table, and includes Ayurvedicmassage techniques combined with therapeutic heat from both hot and cold stones. Post-treatment, soak in the outdoor mineral bath and then sweat it out in the sauna—the perfect way to work up a little hunger for a healthy in-robe lunch (try the Wild Pacific bowl with yellowfin tuna and salmon sashimi, which are served on a bed of ginger-steamed brown rice, cucumber, mango, and avocado). If that’s not enough pampering for one day, get a blowout at the onsite Wish Dry Bar.

Baoase Wellness at Baoase Curacao (Willemstad, Curaçao)

The world has become a lot more interested in Curaçao ever since the tiny Caribbean country (population: less than 200,000) put up an impressive fight at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Curaçao is a true melting pot of cultures—which helps explain why its top hotel takes its design cues from Indonesian wellness. Baoase Curacao is a secluded beachfront property in the main city of Willemstad, but it feels like a world away: the open-air lobby leads guests to a private cove, and guestrooms here range from multi-level villas with outdoor showers to expansive suites with private pools. The spa facility is equally impressive: imagine receiving a hot-stone or Thai massage in a private villa overlooking the Caribbean Sea, listening to nothing but the sound of the waves.

The Heart of the Earth Spa at Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai (Hoi An, Vietnam)

Inspired by the teachings of Vietnamese Zen Buddhist monk and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh, The Heart of the Earth Spa at the Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai in Vietnam’s charming canal city of Hoi An offers true sensory immersion. The most difficult part will be picking your treatment, as each one sounds more delightful than the last: be it Five Elements Bodywork (an exploration of nature’s five elements, including a garden herb footbath, spine-warming handmade ginger paste, a sound bath, and the burning of cleansing local agarwood); or the Rose Aloe Cooler Wrap (a full-body journey including aromatic rose mist, rose quartz massage, and rose and aloe wrap). The treatment villas are their own wonder here, with spacious rooms and quiet decks that overlook a private palm-tree-lined lagoon.

Aman Spa at Amangiri (Canyon Point, United States)

Beloved by celebrities such as Kim KardashianHailey and Justin Bieber, and Lady GagaAmangiri is one of America’s very best (and most Instagrammed) hotels. Tucked away in the mesmerizing desert of Canyon Point, Utah, the hotel blends perfectly into its sand-coloured surroundings, giving it the secretive feeling of a James Bond villain lair—but there’s no evil here. The onsite 25,000-square-foot spa is not to be missed: explore the water pavilion with sauna, steam room, plunge pool, and warm step pool; the floatation pavilion with private reclining area and touching-up salon; two outdoor terraces for specialty treatments; and a yoga studio. Experiences range from aqua shiatsu (gentle bodywork therapy in a warm pool) to curated facials using Aman‘s own line of made-in-Japan skincare products. Those who want to take things a step further can partake in a special Detoxification Programme designed by international tennis star Novak Djokovic, which includes curated treatments such as sound baths, cryotherapy, and salt body wraps. It might not help your backhand, but you’ll feel amazing nonetheless.
