Tiffany & Co.’s iconic Bird on a Rock Brooch has been reimagined with the world’s rarest pearls. Originally designed by Jean Schlumberger in 1965, the signature bird that was once perched on gemstones has found a new home atop exquisite natural saltwater pearls. The prized pearls are sourced in the Gulf region and acquired from Mr. Hussein Al Fardan’s private collection — the largest collection of natural pearls from the region. With his expertise spanning centuries, Mr. Hussein Al Fardan opening his doors to Tiffany & Co. presents a rare opportunity among high jewellery houses.
The Bird on a Pearl capsule collection will debut at an exclusive event in Doha, Qatar this month. The masterpiece within the collection is a three-strand necklace of graduated natural saltwater white cream pearls of over 316 total carats. In addition to this masterpiece, the collection includes the reimagined iconic brooch, rings, earrings, and pendants, all set with rare natural saltwater pearls of varying colours inspired by Jean Schlumberger’s original aesthetic.
