Interweaving two brands grounded in creativity and individuality, Vans has partnered with New York designer Sandy Liang, developing a one-of-a-kind collection featuring her signature mixture of materials, textures, and prints. Consisting of five new iterations of Liang’s favourite shoe styles—alongside an array of personalized clothes and accessories—the collaboration brings a grungy feminine twist to the classic skate brand. Defined by bold animal prints in fleece materials, contrast stitching, and jewelled velour, Liang states this youthful lines is inspired by the evocative dreaminess of the nineties, fused with the rougher side of downtown New York City.
Along with the footwear, nine apparel pieces and an assortment of accessories epitomize Liang’s nostalgic memories of NYC. She has reimagined the classic Old Skool sneaker, draping it in pink velour inspired from a couch found in her Lower East Side studio, adorned with charms and chains. Fleece—a distinct element in Liang’s previous designs—has been incorporated in a range of items, from the iconic slip-on to side bags. The boyfriend hoodie is a standout, with pierced eyelets around the hood, embroidered branding, and zip code accents depicting her personalized adaption of these key items.
