Following London Fashion Week, we caught up with Net-a-Porter‘s Global Buying Director Elizabeth von der Goltz to get her take on the week, the standout collections, trends to look out for, and how to determine what you’re going to wear when attending a show.
What sets London Fashion Week apart from New York, Paris, and Milan?
“London Fashion Week’s shows are located in beautiful, interesting locations throughout the city. There are a lot of young, new designers showing through Fashion East and the Central Saint Martins spaces.”
What shows and designers stood out for you?
“Simone Rocha, Burberry, Victoria Beckham, JW Anderson and Richard Quinn.”
What are some Fall/Winter 2019 fashion and accessories trends coming out of London Fashion Week?
“I adored all of the luxe, country-chic looks with tweed coats and Argyll knits coming from the Victoria Beckham and JW Anderson shows. Burberry brought us amazing trench, cape, and blanket coats. There were lots of great colour combinations across the board. I especially loved the modern couture evening wear from brands like Simone Rocha, Roksanda, Richard Quinn, Erdem, and Emilia Wickstead, who brought out a killer jumpsuit. Accessories trends included vintage frame bags, many variations of the loafer, python shoes and accessories, and loads of Chelsea boots.”
How do you decide what to wear to the shows? What has been your favourite outfit?
“The weather dictates what I end up wearing. When it comes to this time of the year, I usually pack a lot of statement coats because that is what I end up living in throughout the week. My favorite piece from London Fashion Week was my yellow leather Ochi coat. It’s such an elegant, unique piece from a new designer on NET-A-PORTER from the Ukraine.”
