Resale fashion is having its moment, with Bella Hadid and Devon Lee Carlson consistently photographed wearing hard-to-find luxury vintage, while designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler are unearthing garments from their extensive archives for head turning red carpet moments. Pieces from long-time collectors are in high demand and now is the perfect time to showcase what they’ve been stowing away.

Creative consultant and stylist Kaelen Haworth has accumulated an impressive archive over the last decade. Having recently moved to Toronto by way of New York, her first stop was to the esteemed consignment shop VSP to meet owner Britt Rawlinson, where they discovered a shared love of sustainable fashion. “I think we are similarly aligned and excited about fashion as it exists outside of typical cycles,” says Haworth. Rawlinson is also an avid collector, a perk of having grown up in the consignment world—her mother, Dianne Rawlinson, has owned and operated the prestigious Calgary consignment store Vespucci since the ’80s. “Both Kaelen and I are interested in how shapes and silhouettes become relevant again, we wanted to combine our collections to show that.”

Haworth and the team at VSP opted to collaborate on a photoshoot, with casting handled by creative director Armand Digdoyo and styling courtesy of Haworth. The shoot features muses that have influenced VSP over the years and continue to be ambassadors for the store. “I’m constantly inspired by these women and the way they wear clothes, so it felt natural to have them involved” Rawlinson exclaims. The resulting imagery features a slew of familiar faces including the singer Ralph, writer Marlowe Granados, and artist Leia Bryans. “The idea of wearing things that are not ‘new’ but making them feel different and exciting is a jumping-off point for a bigger discussion around moving away from fast fashion,” Haworth admits. Instead, consumers should be “focusing on collecting, the art of editing, and the emotional connection to the things we wear and buy.”
