Spring’s New Scents Are in Bloom

Spring is in the air. The snow is melting, the air is warming, the days are getting longer…finally!

Personally, spring is my favourite time to re-evaluate my beauty regime and maybe do a little bit of reinvention too. What will my summer look be? What do I like in my current I routine and what isn’t working so well? Which empties should I re-purchase and which should I say farewell to? You get the idea.

When it comes to fragrance, I love switching out my deeper, more luxurious, rich winter scents for lighter, more fruit-, fresh-, and floral-forward ones.

Here, a roundup of some beautiful fragrances to try if you’re in the mood to ring in spring with a new signature scent.

PROEM Eau de Parfum, U Beauty, $278

PROEM is a uniquely feminine scent. Its key notes include the soft petals of the centifolia, rose, and Chinese magnolia flowers. It builds into a fruity and unexpectedly woodsy redolence with pink peppercorn, lychee, and rhubarb. The result is a profile that’s equally as fresh as it is unique. If you’re looking for a signature scent that isn’t super common, PROEM is your pick.

Blanche l’Absolu de Parfum, Byredo, $370

Earlier this month the olfactory powerhouse, Byredo, released Blanche l’Absolu de Parfum. Best known for its fresh but layered scent profile, Blanche has become one of the most popular “clean girl” fragrances. This new Absolu edition amplifies Blanche’s signature profile, with a more pronounced aldehydic composition, a stronger floral heart, and intensified musk, accented by black pepper at the top.

Valya Exclusif, Perfumes de Marly, $250

Valaya Exclusif is just as layered and beautiful as the minimalist yet masterful neoclassical 18th century court dresses it was inspired by. It’s velvety, sensual, woody, and powdery. Perfect for someone who likes a slightly richer, fuller scent that can work all year long.

L’eau Papier, Diptyque, $135

What sets L’eau Papier apart from the rest? Rice steam. The common household ingredient gives this fragrance a starchy, foamy, almost milky aroma.
