As the Summer heat rolls in, a ‘less-is-more’ approach to beauty tends to take over. An effective way of executing this look while still sporting a fresh feel is focusing on dewy skin and adding a pop of colour with a gorgeous blush. The look is seen throughout our Summer 2023 fashion shoot, here CHANEL Makeup Artist Julie Cusson takes us through the steps she took, and the products used to create this Summer glow.
To create dewy, choose water!
Make hydration a central point of your skincare routine to create the perfect dewy canvas by using a serum as the first step. Energize, hydrate, and plump the skin to create a dewy complexion, and choose water-based skincare products such as a microdroplets formula with microfluidics technology to ensure the skin stays moist. Finish this ritual with a facial mist to seal this hydration effect.
Hydra Beauty Sérum, Hydra Beauty Micro Crème Yeux, Hydra Beauty Micro Crème, Hydra Beauty Essence Mist
Likewise, for foundation, enhance the complexion by using Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint. It utilizes micro-droplet and pigments from microfluidics technology to keep hydration, skin moist, and a dewy texture. Also, it will provide a natural glow with a luminous complexion and a bare skin effect.
Cream instead of powder!
Sculpt the face with a creamy shade to create a light contouring and a second skin texture by using Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream.
For blush, also choose a creamy texture instead of powder, such as the N°1 de CHANEL Lip and Cheek Balm. The ultimate secret is to dab with your fingers the cream blush. You can add and layer as you like and not make a mistake, as the gesture of dabbing with fingers will make the cream blush melt onto the skin.
For lips, use a tinted lip balm. Lips will stay hydrated and plump with a flush of colour.
N°1 de CHANEL Lip and Cheek Balm & Rouge Coco Baume in 930 Sweet Tart
To get the full dewy makeup look with a pop of blush:
First, prep the skin with and energize the skin with Hydra Beauty Serum, Micro Cream, and Micro Crème Yeux. Correct dark circles with Sublimage Le Correcteur Yeux in shade 70. Sculpt the face by using Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream in 390 Soleil Tan Bronze. To enhance and add glow, apply Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint in Medium Deep all over the face in a circular motion. Create a natural smoky eye by using Les Beiges Eyeshadow Palette in Medium and slightly pencil the eyes with Stylo Yeux Waterproof in 36 shade Prune Intense. For this editorial, I didn’t use mascara to keep the effortless vibe, but for a sophisticated look, use a waterproof mascara such as Le Volume Waterproof. Fill in the eyebrow by using Stylo Sourcils Waterproof in 818 Brun Noir. Dab N°1 de CHANEL Lip and Cheek Balm in shade 5 Lively Rosewood on cheekbones and slightly towards the temples. To get rid of the unwanted shine, powder the tip of the nose and between the eyebrows with Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder in 40. Paint lips with Rouge Coco Baume in 930 Sweet Tart, a delicate mauve colour. Coat nails with a brownish-rosewood shade, such as Le Vernis in shade 117 Passe- Muraille.
