Beauty Radar: Spring Products You Need To Know

WITH A CAPITAL L

Lancôme’s limited-edition Café Bônheur collection encapsulates the joy of spring, characterized by its cheerful offering Blush in Capitals. Colourful capital letters that spell out the brand’s name compose the powder and create a shimmering rosy flush when applied to cheeks. The playfulness of the blush is echoed in its eye-catching packaging, which mimics the caning found on bistro chairs in Paris, making it a lively addition to any makeup bag or vanity.

FULL OF HEART

Rouge Volupté Shine lipstick from YSL Beauty became an instant classic with its hydrating, glossy colour. The same conditioning formula and high-impact pigment can be found in the latest iteration of the iconic lipstick, Rouge Volupté Plump-in. A black balm heart in its centre stimulates and plumps lips, which are then soothed by cooling natural peppermint oil. There are eight shades in the Plump-in line, ranging from an iridescent warm nude to a deep plum. The campaign stars Kaia Gerber, who adores the lipstick for its effortless wearability: “I love the super soft lip balms with just a hint of colour—so easy to wear. They just glide on and you look like you’ve made an effort.”

GARDEN PARTY

Following the success of the well-loved fragrance trilogy Gucci Bloom, creative director Alessandro Michele and master perfumer Alberto Morillas have teamed up once again to craft the brand’s first fine fragrance collection. The Alchemist’s Garden offers 14 apothecary-style scents, including seven perfumes, three scented waters, and four perfumed oils. With such poetic names as “The Last Day of Summer” and “A Song for the Rose”, the nostalgic collection is a delight to the senses, housed in Italian pharmacy–inspired bottles decorated in flowers, animals, and gold detailing. According to Morillas, the scents are meant to evoke reminiscence in the wearer: “Every fragrance and every formula is created as a unicum, telling the story of a place, a moment, a season, and a smell of memory.”

ALL EYES ON HER

Jean Paul Gaultier’s latest fragrance encapsulates the powerful feeling of turning heads upon walking into a room. Fronted by Irina Shayk, the campaign for Scandal portrays the Russian supermodel captivating a restaurant full of Parisian diners who respond to her daring entrance with shock and awe. Scandal is a honey chypre scent with notes of refreshing blood orange, smooth gardenia, and woody patchoulol, which combine to create an elegant and sensual perfume. The juice is housed in a delightfully cheeky pink bottle that features heeled legs kicking in the air as the topper.
