Inside CHANEL and Variety’s Annual Female Filmmaker Dinner at TIFF

On September 7th, 2024, CHANEL, in collaboration with Variety Magazine, hosted its 5th Annual Female Filmmaker Dinner at Soho House in Toronto, Canada during the Toronto International Film Festival. The elegant event brought together a group of industry leaders to celebrate women’s contributions to film and reaffirm CHANEL’s ongoing connection to film.

The evening was dedicated to the CHANEL Women Creators’ Network, an initiative launched in 2020 as an extension of the Toronto International Film Festival’s (TIFF) Share Her Journey’s annual TIFF Writers’ Studio. This network is dedicated to supporting women in film by fostering their artistic and professional growth. This year’s participants included Zhannat Alshanova, Rebecca Fisseha, Sophie Jarvis, and Asia Youngman, with Fisseha, Jarvis, and Youngman in attendance at the event.

The event guest list featured a diverse range of talent from the entertainment industry including Elizabeth Olsen, Andrew Garfield, Barry Keoghan, and Macaulay Culkin. Also in attendance were filmmakers Gia Coppola and Luis De Filippis among other talent in the film industry.

The event was not just a celebration but a significant platform for discussing and advancing the role of women in cinema. The presence of notable figures like Canadian director Jason Reitman and TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey underscored the evening’s importance in highlighting and supporting female filmmakers and creators across the globe.

The dinner, set against the stylish backdrop of Soho House, marked another milestone in CHANEL’s dedication to empowering women in the arts, ensuring their stories and voices continue to resonate in the film industry.
