7 Golden Globe Nominees To Watch Out For In the 2026 Awards Race

The 2026 Golden Globe nominations celebrate a diverse range of powerful and compelling performances by actresses across both film and television. In the Drama categories, Tessa Thompson is recognized for her scorching portrayal of the titular character in the modern stage adaptation of Hedda, while Renate Reinsve earned a nod for her highly acclaimed work in the multiple-nominated Norwegian family drama, Sentimental Value. Reinsve’s co-star, Elle Fanning, also secured a nomination for her supporting role in the same film.

On the television side, the nominations include fan-favourite Natasha Lyonne for her distinct performance as human lie-detector Charlie Cale in the witty mystery series Poker Face, and Rashida Jones for her compelling turn in an episode of the technology-focused anthology series Black Mirror. In the Musical or Comedy Film category features, veteran Kate Hudson earned her nod for her starring role in the biographical musical Song Sung Blue, alongside Amanda Seyfried, who delivers a transformative performance as the 18th-century spiritual leader Ann Lee in the historical drama The Testament of Ann Lee.

Tessa Thompson, Hedda

Tessa Thompson earned a nomination for her powerful portrayal of Hedda, the titular character in a modern, queer reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s famous play, which sees her character fighting against stereotypes and expectations during a single eventful party. This is a significant nomination for Thompson, who has been previously recognized with a Tribute Award at the Gotham Awards for her recent work. She earned a well-deserved Golden Globe nod with Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama. You can read our cover star interview here. 

Renate Reinsve, Sentimental Value

Renate Reinsve is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama for role in the heartfelt Norwegian family dramedy, Sentimental Value, from director Joachim Trier. Her role is a central part of the film, which has garnered multiple nominations. Reinsve had a significant international breakthrough with Trier’s 2021 film, The Worst Person in the World, for which she won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress and received a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role, though this is her first Golden Globe nomination which comes shortly after her Critics Choice Award nom for Trier’s film. Elle Fanning, Sentimental Value

Elle Fanning received a nomination for her supporting role in the Norwegian film, Sentimental Value. The film focuses on a lauded filmmaker’s estranged relationship with his two daughters. Fanning is a recognized presence at the Golden Globes, having been previously nominated three times in the Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy category for her work in the satirical series, The Great. Natasha Lyonne, Poker Face

Natasha Lyonne is nominated for her performance as Charlie Cale in the mystery series Poker Face. Cale is a former casino worker with an uncanny ability to tell when someone is lying, who travels the U.S. solving various murder mysteries. Lyonne is a familiar face to the Globes, having been nominated for this same role in 2024 and previously for her starring role in the series Russian Doll in 2020. Rashida Jones, Black Mirror

Rashida Jones secured a nomination for her role in the anthology series Black Mirror, specifically for the episode “Common People.” While the nature of the role is often episode-specific, the nomination recognizes her compelling performance in the sci-fi drama. Jones’s prior work has included roles in acclaimed series like Parks and Recreation and The Office, and she has received previous nominations and awards for other creative work, including a Grammy Award for Best Music Film for the documentary Quincy. Kate Hudson, Song Sung Blue

Kate Hudson is nominated for her starring role in the biographical musical drama Song Sung Blue. She plays Claire Sardina, who, alongside her husband, performed as a Neil Diamond tribute band called Lightning & Thunder. Hudson is a former Golden Globe winner, having received the award for Best Supporting Actress for her breakout role in Almost Famous (2001). Amanda Seyfried, The Testament of Ann Lee

Amanda Seyfried received a nomination for her transformative role as Ann Lee in the historical musical drama, The Testament of Ann Lee. Ann Lee was the founding leader of the Shakers religious sect in the 18th century, who believed herself to be the female incarnation of Christ. Seyfried is a previous Golden Globe nominee, having received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Marion Davies in the film Mank. We spoke with the actress while she was in Toronto, which she considers her second home, for her film, Seven Veils.
