It’s shaping up to be a big year for one of Canada’s most popular ski resorts. In 2026, British Columbia’s world-class ski resort is celebrating the 60th anniversary of Whistler Mountain and the 45th anniversary of Blackcomb Mountain. To mark the occasions, the mountain town has launched a series of Wonder Routes: curated ski and snowboard itineraries, for all different levels and abilities, designed to help people explore Whistler’s many runs and peaks. The intermediate-to-advanced Gold Medal Route, for example, includes stop points marking both the Invictus Games, which were held in Whistler earlier this year, and the 2010 Winter Olympics. Or there’s the Apres Route, which is accessible for all ski levels and involves multiple stops for warming up with a beverage or a bite of food.
Next year is also the 10th anniversary of Whistler’s Patkau Architects-designed Audain Art Museum, which it is honouring with an exhibition featuring the works of celebrated Canadian visual artist Geoffrey Farmer. It all means that it’s an exciting time to head to BC’s most famous ski hill. Here’s where to stay when you’re there.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler
The chairlift-turned-bench outside the lobby of the Four Seasons Whistlehas become an iconic photo spot for a reason: it’s a symbol of true alpine luxury. Classic Four Seasons service abounds here, with staff ready and willing to accommodate every need—from restaurant reservations in Whistler Village (be sure to check out Bar Oso) to onsite spa appointments. The two-Michelin-Key hotel’s Braidwood Tavern is great for brunch, while Sidecut Steakhouse is a stellar option for more lavish meals. Wintertime resort activities, which are complimentary for all guests, often include such delights as nightly wine tastings for the adults, and s’mores and maple taffy for the kids. Guests visiting in winter should keep an eye out for The Library: a pop-up whisky bar presented in collaboration with The Macallan.
Fairmont Chateau Whistler
Located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, which has two Michelin Keys, is a grand chalet-style hotel with incredible mountain views. The pool facility features both indoor and outdoor hot tubs and wading pools, while the spa offers an array of relaxing body treatments, from the Ancient Thai Massage, designed to gently increase flexibility and ease tension, to the Botanical Aromatherapy Massage, with essential oil remedies custom-blended for each guest. When it comes to dining, choose between the West Coast-inspired fare of The Wildflower, the classic ski hill steakhouse options of The Grill Room, or the elevated pub food of The Mallard Lounge, where it’s not uncommon to hear live music. For something more casual but equally delicious, stroll-side cafe Portobello offers quick and hearty breakfast and lunch dishes. To up the ante, consider staying on the Fairmont Gold floor for access to an exclusive lounge complete with honour bar, hot breakfast, and snacks throughout the day.
Nita Lake Lodge
Tucked away in the village of Creekside—the original base of Whistler Mountain—is Nita Lake Lodge. Located a short drive south along the highway from Whistler Village, Creekside has its own charms, from the vegan bakery Bred to the charmingly old-school Rimrock Cafe (and of course, a chairlift with access to the mountain). Nita Lake Lodge, which has been awarded one Michelin Key, sits right on the shore of its namesake lake (itself a truly beautiful place for crisp nature walks along the forested paths). Closer to home, the hotel’s outdoor hot tub and barrel sauna provide a dose of wellness—as does the celebrated spa. The whole property has a cozy, cabin-like aesthetic, with rooms complete with fireplaces that are all too easy to spend the evening in front of.
Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside
Boasting what is easily the resort town’s best location, the Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside is situated right at the base of Whistler Mountain, making it essentially ski-in, ski-out. The outdoor pool and hot tub showcase jaw-dropping views of the slopes, while the Irish pub at the bottom of the hotel is a great place for après, with live music and frothy pints of Guinness; also don’t miss the excellent cocktails at The Raven Room, located at the hotel’s sister property: the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre. Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside is such a beloved hotel that it has been named Canada’s Best Ski Hotel by the World Ski Awards for 12 consecutive years.
