To mark its 15th anniversary, the Cartier Women’s Initiative invited its global community of empowered women to celebrate in Dubai. Since its launch in 2006, this initiative has supported 262 female changemakers from 62 countries, awarding a total of $6,440,000 in prize money to support their ventures. Each laureate is united by the same goal, to solve the most pressing global challenges. For this momentous occasion, the CWI gathered previous awardees to honour their remarkable achievements, while also commemorating the Initiative and its ability to bolster visionary women.
Over the span of three days, a series of workshops and networking sessions allowed fellow changemakers from around the world to meet, spark new connections, and tackle shared challenges. On the evening of March 6th, a ceremony was hosted by founder and CEO of CRU, Tiffany Dufu, and featured a musical interlude conducted by Simone Menezes that paid tribute to all the wonderful women entrepreneurs, while Guo Jingjing, Yara Shahidi, and Sophie Doireau recited inspirational speeches. Nine former Cartier Women’s Initiative fellows were selected for the extraordinary impact their businesses have created over the years and were honoured with the Impact Award.
Cyrille Vigneron, President and CEO of Cartier International, acknowledged the Initiative’s commitment towards women’s empowerment, stating, “I am thrilled to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Cartier Women’s Initiative. During all these years, this initiative has brought together a community of passionate social entrepreneurs, who have developed successful business models while improving the lives around them. This community is a constant source of awe and inspiration.”
