This year’s Met Gala, also known as the biggest fashion event of the year, proved once again to be the pinnacle of iconic style. The annual May celebration paid tribute to the grand opening of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s latest exhibition “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination“, which tackles the influence of Catholicism in fashion. Over 50 masterworks from the Vatican—many of which have never been seen outside the Vatican—are featured alongside Catholic inspired haute couture from the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Gianni Versace and Cristóbal Balenciaga.
