The Louis Vuitton Cruise 2024 collection was presented on the very small island of Isola Bella on Lake Maggiore in Italy. Typically only inhabited by 20 people, Isola Bella served as an extremely intimate and dreamy landscape for this year’s Louis Vuttion Cruise show. The presentation took place at the gorgeous Palazzo Borromeo, which boasts a classical baroque interior and contains over 130 works of Italian paintings by Raphael, Reni, and more.
Nicolas Ghesquière played with shape, texture and technique to create a fantasy world, opening the show with neoprene scuba-inspired gear. Neoprene was fashioned into tailored blazers, skirt sets, shorts, dresses, and trousers, manipulated in shape to exaggerate silhouettes. Bejeweled capes and vests were accessorized with elaborate headpieces for a regal touch. Bucket bags, slouchy boots and sneakers were the accessories of choice in the show, adding a sporty touch to the futuristic fantasy. Shells, beads, and netting details in accessories emphasized the aquatic references that Ghesquière had in mind when designing the collection.
Sporty crewnecks included sheer panels, and athletic shorts were layered with biker shorts underneath. Texture was explored to the maximum with beaded garments, sheer illusions, and mixed patterns. Silhouettes leaned into curved lines and looser garments to give room to play with shape. Ghesquière ended the show with seven pastel mermaid dresses with asymmetrically shaped hoop skirts, including ruffles, bows, and rounded sleeves.
This Cruise show explored the fantasies of the ocean and the craftsmanship of Louis Vuitton, showcasing leather goods, high fashion silhouettes and stylistic interpretations of the future.
