“In pursuing a career that requires vulnerability, that demands it, I have come to feel a deeper responsibility within my life, not only to those who encounter what I create, but to myself—to my own heart, to my own tenderness, to the value I once struggled to believe I carried in a world that didn’t always make space for me. Simply put, writing has taught me that I belong. That others feel these things, too. It returned me to myself.”
