Modern Frontier: Celebrating Mastery in Creativity

Introducing the stars of S Magazine's annual Portfolio. This year's inspiring ensemble prove that there’s poetic mastery to every form of creative pursuit.

From their personal rituals to welcoming in a new season, and how their creative pursuits have shaped their identities, we spotlight eight inspiring women to discuss how they maintain their calm in the chaos of their careers.

Bianca Sparacino, Writer

“In pursuing a career that requires vulnerability, that demands it, I have come to feel a deeper responsibility within my life, not only to those who encounter what I create, but to myself—to my own heart, to my own tenderness, to the value I once struggled to believe I carried in a world that didn’t always make space for me. Simply put, writing has taught me that I belong. That others feel these things, too. It returned me to myself.”

Sasha Mei and Amy Yu, Co-Founders of Yu & Mei

“It’s taught me that I’m probably too soft of a human at times, but I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing. I think we could use more softness and sensitivity in this world.” – Sasha Mei

“When the air turns cool and crisp, I get so excited to pull my autumn jackets out of storage. Fall is, in my opinion, the most versatile season for styling—a statement jacket can instantly complete any look.” – Amy Yu
