Max Mara’s Autumn/Winter 2025 collection transports us to the untamed world of a heroine. As Milan Fashion Week recedes into the background, the collection presents its own Victorian wonderland, inspired by the Yorkshire countryside that shaped the Brontë sisters. Featuring looks that evoke the enchanted spirit of Jane Eyre and the fierce passion of Wuthering Heights, the pieces blend classic styles, neo-gothic chic, and a hint of urban rusticity to reveal a feminine warrior. 

“Sleek, self-assured and elegant, the heroine of Max Mara’s story encounters every situation with characteristic cool aplomb,” reads the show notes. Visually, she is more inclined to investigate the corridors of power in a sharp suit than wander through daisy fields in a nightgown. But how does this storytelling come alive in the clothing?

Coats—ranging in style, texture and size—take centre stage through dimensional layering, including capes, robes de Chambre, and frock coats. Meanwhile, leather belts are paired with nearly every look, and enigmatic leather gloves add a touch of rigour. 

Cascia, a colour exclusive to Max Mara, embodies the stones and sky of the Brontë sisters’ hometown, Yorkshire. This location oozes into the colour palette, which is filled with mossy greens, berry reds, and decadent autumn shades. As night descends, black velvet becomes the essence and is elegantly crafted into a dramatic gown suited for an opera or a boned bodice for added structure. 

The heroine of Max Mara confronts the most ordinary, mundane tasks with a calm, cool, and collected composure—one mellowed by the luxurious touch of fine cashmere and the soft elegance of her garments.
