For Dior‘s Pre-Fall 2022 outing, Maria Grazia Chiuri focused on visual poetry to showcase the relationship between old and new, or more specifically, between Dior’s history and the contemporary world. Paying homage to the women of the Dior clan, including Catherine, sister of Christian, the collection features a transformation of the family’s emblematic jute bags into a House of Dior sorority, symbolizing a new sisterhood. Other highlights from the collection include a focus on uniforms, an important part of the Maison’s heritage since the beginning, creating unity within the silhouettes. Grazia Chiuri added a more irreverent twist to school uniforms and the personal modifications students add to stand out within an aesthetically analogous crowd. This can be seen in the punk undertones of the pleated skirts, plaid prints, black ties, and collared shirts on display, adding a rebellious take on its more sober source material.
