CHANEL Presents Cruise 2022/2023 Collection on Sandy Shores of Monaco

CHANEL took to Monte-Carlo to showcase its latest Cruise 2022/2023 collection, presenting a selection of fineries that emanated a sportif aesthetic. Strass buckled satin shoes recalled the footwear of ballerinas, while models also carried handbags shaped like tennis racquets for an haute interpretation of performance apparel. Alluring day-to-night pieces that showcase the Maison’s distinct savoir faire were featured alongside these sportier elements, including tweed or silk jumpsuits, as well as sequined and floral embroideries emblazoned on thinly striped shirt dresses with white high collars—a nod to the late Karl Lagerfeld. Held at the Beach Hotel, CHANEL’s Artistic Director of Fashion Collections Virginie Viard reveals how “From very early on, I knew we wanted to hold a show here,” as it overlooks Lagerfeld’s villa at La Vigie. “I will never forget the times I spent there: terraces and balconies, big umbrellas, baskets of flowers—so much beauty,” Viard fondly reminisces. Monaco is deeply ingrained in CHANEL’s DNA, and this collection can be viewed as a sartorial love letter to this illustrious vacation destination.
