Yesterday, on a hazy morning in Paris, models glided through a soaring black ribbon installation at the Grand Palais. With a window-panelled ceiling gently illuminating the room, CHANEL unveiled a distinctly authentic collection featuring seventy-one looks that playfully reinterpreted the House’s codes.

Returning to the House’s core of bows, ribbons, pearls, tweed, and flowers, these motifs were reimagined in surprising ways. Pearls adorn shoe heels, take the structure of circular bags, and play with volume in oversized shapes to form crossbody bag straps. Bows come in various sizes, appearing in cutouts, knits, jackets, dresses, or adorning boots—each contributing to the essence of femininity as envisioned by Gabrielle Chanel herself.
Layering is abundant, allowing for experimentation with proportions using tulle and organza as the preferred fabrics. These materials can be found layered beneath coats, over trousers, or atop tweed suits, playfully adopting various forms with ruffles, bows, and puffed sleeves. The drapery of the overlays creates a dimensional trompe l’oeil effect, providing a proportional balance between structure and volume, which serves as both a subtle accent and a statement piece.

The emphasis rests on the delicate yet poetic detailing. Ruffled Renaissance collars frame the neck. Timeless bolero hats and gloves complete full tweed ensembles. Luscious 3D floral emblems add a tactile element. Micro mini bags have seatmates playfully pondering, “What could possibly fit in there?” All of these intricate elements converge to reveal an iconic CHANEL fairytale.
