Cartier has always found inspiration from animals; the Panther alone has been prowling the Maison’s collections since 1914, first appearing as a spotted motif on a watch and never really leaving since. Wild fauna creations keep her at the centre of the story while bringing in new company: sculptural takes on the crocodile and tiger, each rendered with the same instinct for character that’s defined the Maison’s animal work for decades.

A Collection with Bite

The crocodile and tiger get equally dramatic treatment. The crocodile appears both as a ring, its jaw closing around the finger in white gold, onyx and emerald, and as a fully paved jewelry watch, diamonds set edge to edge with emerald eyes and a dial nearly camouflaged into the stonework. The tiger, meanwhile, shows up in a blue-toned necklace built from sapphire, aquamarine and dumortierite quartz, and in a jewelry watch that goes the opposite direction entirely: warm yellow gold, black lacquer stripes, and a scattering of orange and yellow sapphires that reads more ember than ice.

In a signature Cartier has used for decades, each animal gets its own colour palette, distinct enough that you could identify the creature from the stones alone.

Still, the Panther Reigns

The Panther shows up here in nearly every form. A double-head necklace, paved entirely in diamonds, coils into two mirrored Panther faces in yellow gold. A white gold bracelet and matching necklace take the opposite tone entirely: an immaculate diamond coat spotted in black lacquer with alluring emerald eyes. It’s the kind of design that reads as recognizably “Panther” from across the room, and unmistakably Cartier up close.

It’s a reminder that decades into her reign, the Panther still shines in the spotlight, choosing exactly who gets to stand next to her.
