Following a week of standout looks at NYFW, an impressive cast of designers, actors, musicians, and influential figures upped the ante at this year’s Met Gala. Following the theme, In America: An Anthology of Fashion, stars and international design houses paid homage to national icons such as Grace Kelly, Josephine Baker, Grace Jones, and Audrey Hepburn, while other guests donned American designers. Guests included S/ Fall 2021 cover star Tracee Ellis Ross, who sported a patriotic blue Haute Couture creation by Balenciaga, Billie Eilish who opted for a Marilyn-Monroe, Old Hollywood ensemble by Oscar de la Renta, and the power couple of the evening Rihanna—also in Balenciaga Haute Couture—and A$AP Rocky.
