Guerlain Is Bringing Its Six Key Scents Home in Its New L’Art et La Matière Collection

Luxury fragrances aren’t just for life’s big moments—they can elevate even the smallest occasions. As long-standing purveyors of the finest scents, Guerlain knows how to capture the magic of the day-to-day.

The nearly 200-year-old French perfume house tapped into ideal fragrance combinations long ago, with the Guerlinade—its signature blend of beloved natural materials—being its crown jewel.

In its new collection, L’Art et La Matière—Le Nouvel Art de Vivre, the maison leans into the French art of living. Expanding on the Les Extraits Signature collection, which features the six key fragrances that compose the Guerlinade, Guerlain is touching every corner of life.

From perfume and soaps to candles and car fragrances, bringing the sensory pleasures of Guerlain home or on the go has never been easier.

The line is available in the Guerlinade’s six scents: bergamot, rose, jasmine, iris, vanilla, and tonka bean. By breaking down this multi-dimensional fragrance, a mix-and-match olfactory journey can take place.

“The beauty of the Guerlinade lies in its harmonious blend, and indeed, each individual extract complements the others beautifully,” said Delphine Jelk, director of perfume creation for Guerlain. “By offering these beloved scents in new forms, we invite our cherished clients to immerse themselves more deeply in the Guerlain universe, transforming their homes and daily routines into an expression of refined French art de vivre.”

The maison’s perfumers know the power of the individual scents—and how their combination can unlock new intoxicating blends. Les Extraits Signature fragrances provide a choose-your-own-adventure of olfactory notes.

Jelk says her favourite combos include the “radiant freshness of Bergamote Fantastico with the creamy warmth of Vanille Planifolia”—it’s “utterly captivating,” she says—or the “delightful pairing” of Iris Pallida’s powdery elegance with the “rich, honeyed notes” of Rose Centifolia.

The mix-and-match benefits don’t stop at fragrances—the refillable candle holders, available in different colours and designs, can house your fragrance of choice, allowing for the ideal visual-and-scent combination.

The refillable nature of the candles, as well as the car diffuser, highlights Guerlain’s commitment to earth-friendly products.

“We believe that luxury and sustainability can, and should, go hand in hand,” said Jelk. “By offering these refillable options, we are not only reducing waste but also inviting our clients to participate in a more conscious and sustainable approach to luxury.”

The artful nature of the collection goes beyond just the expected home décor of candles, with special-edition bottles of Les Extrait Signature designed by the iconic Turkish jeweller Begüm Khan. It’s the second collaboration with the designer since 2023.

Bejewelled flowers, representing each scent, sparkle atop the bottles, creating a functional objet d’art that truly represents Guerlain’s art of living.

“This ongoing collaboration with Begüm Khan allows us to fuse fashion and design with the world of exquisite fragrance, creating a truly unique and luxurious experience for our cherished clients,” said Jelk. “It’s a testament to our commitment to celebrating beauty in all its forms, from the scent itself to the art that surrounds it.”
