“Modern purity subtly worked with simplicity” is how Peter Philips, creative and image director of Christian Dior Makeup, described his vision for Dior‘s Autumn/Winter Haute Couture collection. The eyes and complexion worked in opposition for the show, as “a smoky halo that was both soft and intense” around the eyes was juxtaposed with translucency in the skin. The lips and nails were kept natural and hair was kept away from the face, allowing the dark smoky eye to pop through a strategically placed netted veil, which in turn complimented the dark-hued silhouettes on the runway.
