Dakota Fanning Joins Clé de Peau Beauté as an Ambassador for #InfiniteRadiance

Tapping into female strength and the elemental qualities of beauty, Clé de Peau Beauté has launched a new campaign featuring acting stalwarts Dakota Fanning, Diana Silvers, and Ella Balinska for a journey towards #InfiniteRadiance. With this latest promotional push, the Japanese cosmetic and skincare brand is revelling in the kaleidoscopic essence of attractiveness, something that bypasses traditional binaries and has found a footing in an individual’s innate idiosyncrasies. S/ recently spoke with Fanning about how this ambassador position aligns with her personal morals, beauty’s true interiority, as well as her most riveting red-carpet moment.

What does a brand ambassadorship mean to you?

“When I was approached about this ambassador position, I was excited because it’s a brand that I genuinely use and have loved for quite some time. It is important for me that the partnership be genuine and with a company whose message I believe in. Everyone is so wonderful that I’ve gotten to meet virtually in Japan. I was also excited to be a part of this specific ambassadorship with Diana and Ella, two other women that I admire so much. Getting to know them, the little bit that we have had a chance to so far, has been great. It’s always fun to get to share an experience with other people.”

Female camaraderie is neatly interwoven throughout this promotional push. How have you, Ella, and Diana established a unique connection throughout the process so far? 

“It was really fun to finally connect in person and get to know each other a bit. I look forward to more, whether it is having dinner or getting to do some things off the set of a campaign.”

“I was a fan of both before this came about and I’m excited for what’s to come. Also, I think it’s wonderful that Clé de Peau Beauté wants this campaign to feature women who look different, allowing people to see their makeup on different skin-tones — I think that’s super important.”

How does your personal beauty ethos then align with the brand?

“For me, beauty is something that everyone has. I think it has become this superficial term of like ‘oh, you’re pretty’, but beauty is in your spirit, how you treat other people, and your attitude. I think the brand is all about empowering women to tap into their innate beauty and embrace the radiance we all have. I think what’s lovely about their messaging is that they’re not selling products to make you beautiful, rather, they are creating items to help unleash the beauty you already have. They also do a lot of wonderful philanthropic work for young girls that I definitely stand behind.”

If you had to recommend a skincare regimen to a loved one, what products from the brand would be at the top of your list?

“There’s so many! I’m obsessed with The Serum — I love serums in general so, but I especially covet this one, it just feels so luxurious. I think people get afraid of serums cause they’re like ‘no I don’t want to put something oily on my face,’ but when a formula is made properly and used the right way, it’s not going to make you oily at all, rather, it’s going to rebalance your oils!”

“I’ve used their concealer for so long too. When I was younger and working, that’s what the makeup artist would use for any dark circle or a little blemish. I always recommend that to people because it’s a concealer that gives you full coverage but it’s not cakey, it blends very nicely. It’s a very creamy texture that stays where you put it without looking fake.”

Can you name any of your beauty moments from the red carpet or on screen that resonate with you the most?

“On screen I completely separate myself from the characters that I play because a lot of times you need to look your worst to play your character the best, so I’ve sort of kept those two separate. In The Runaways, playing Cherie Currie, there were some quite outlandish makeup looks that were super fun. They were obviously recreating a style, that ’70s glam rock with lots of eyeliner, so that was super fun.”

“On the red carpet, I went to The Golden Globes a few years ago and I was wearing a strapless, icy blue gown and I had a red lip. It was pretty simple with the red lip, some lashes, and lots of mascara — I loved that, it was very simple. I don’t wear lipstick very often but when it’s right, it’s right, you know?”
