Beauty Radar: Summer Products and News You Need to Know

SO FLUSHED
Few beauty products stand the test of time, but one provocatively named little black compact is still flying off shelves since its initial release in 1999. NARS’ Orgasm powder blush—the universally flattering, peachy-pink hybrid with just the right amount of gold shimmer—remains the brand’s number-one blusher after 18 years and counting. This season, three new afterglow-like cosmetics join the holy grail of all NARS blushes’ beauty pack: a moisturizing liquid blush, a conditioning lipstick, and the classic silky powder updated with limited-edition packaging. Because one Orgasm is never enough. The NARS Orgasm Collection is available at narscosmetics.com.

EYES FOR YOU
Kenzo’s creative directors, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, have bottled their quirky sartorial vision of the luxury fashion house into their first fragrance, Kenzo World. A two-year project for the Los Angeles natives who took over the label back in 2011, Lim and Leon called on master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian to craft the dynamic floral spritz that mixes playful top notes of red berries with a bouquet of peony and Egyptian jasmine, and a sensual ambroxan drydown. Paying tribute to Kenzo’s famous evil-eye motif that the duo created back in 2013, the energetic aroma is packaged in an eye-shaped flacon with a floating gold pupil that’s worthy of surrealistic sculpture. Kenzo World Eau de Parfum is available at Sephora.

CRUISE CONTROL
Chanel’s global creative makeup and colour designer, Lucia Pica, has unveiled her debut cruise makeup collection for the legendary French house. Called Les Indispensables De L’Été, Pica sought to capture the iconic Gabrielle Chanel’s understated style and love for effortless summer beauty. Thoughtfully curated, the 21-piece collection focuses on sun-kissed, glowing skin and flashes of colour inspired by natural landscapes. Beautifully embossed bronzing powders, buttery-smooth lipsticks ranging from coral to soft beige, and for the eyes, coloured eyeliners and mascaras accentuate your gaze with flattering brown tones and a pop of emerald green. And last but not least, nails get polished in a shimmering grey and a trio of pinks. Les Indispensables De L’Été Collection is available at all Chanel beauty counters.

LIFE’S A BEACH
Get ready to conjure up that sweet feeling of sun-soaked sand and sea salt on warm skin. The house of Margiela has expanded its best-selling scent of the Replica fragrance collection, Beach Walk, into a bath-and-body line. Launched in 2012, perfumers Jacques Cavallier and Marie Salamagne aimed to replicate a specific memory of a fresh, ocean-air stroll along the Corsican beach of Calvi, France. Now, the golden liquid—which mixes notes of bergamot, lemon, pink pepper, ylang ylang, coconut milk, and musk—has been turned into a foaming body wash, softening body lotion, and nourishing dry body oil. Beach Walk Bath Line is available at Sephora.

COOL COLLAB
Fresh’s cult-classic Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask just got an artful facelift. Multitasking as a deep cleanser, face mask and blemish minimizer, the detoxifying treatment’s hefty glass jar has been decorated with a limited-edition label to celebrate the rich Italian history of its hero ingredient, Umbrian clay. The mineral-rich white earth is found solely in the picturesque town of Nocera Umbra, Italy, and is one of the earliest known cosmetic ingredients dating back to Etruscan times. To create the visual homage to the clay’s origins, Fresh partnered with Italian ceramics workshop Rometti. Jean-Christophe Clair, the factory’s artistic director, dreamt up the design featuring an Etruscan female figure set against an earth-toned geometric pattern. “Rometti is one of the oldest pottery companies in Italy, so it was the most incredible collaboration that brings the story of the Umbrian clay back to the forefront,” says Fresh co-founder Lev Glazman. The limited-edition Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask is available at Sephora.
