In celebration of the 93rd annual Academy Awards, held at Union Station and the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Rolex showed a short film displaying the masterful parallels that lie between filmmaking and watchmaking. Rolex worked in partnership with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to create the film which delves into the masterpiece that is creating both a timepiece and a film, two different types of unforgettable work that take meticulous effort. The film that was shown at this year’s Oscars ceremony honoured artists, including Martin Scorsese, a mentor and testimonee in the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative, and fellow testimonee James Cameron. Rolex has been the Exclusive Watch to AMPAS since 2017, with history and relevance in film dating back many years, as Rolex timepieces have appeared in iconic films like Titanic and The Color of Money.
