Moscow’s acclaimed Garage Museum of Contemporary Art is getting a new home in the Russian capital this summer. Architect Rem Koolhaas and avid art collector Dasha Zhukova are transforming the dilapidated structure that once housed Vremena Goda, a dining hotspot in the ’60s.
The prefab concrete building has been abandoned for more than 20 years, so some areas are being razed and rebuilt. Other elements will remain intact: graffiti on the interior brick, for example, will be preserved in a bid to break the sterile atmosphere that is often associated with a typical gallery space.
The new museum opens June 12. For more information, visit their website here.
