Haider Ackermann’s Third Snow Goose by Canada Goose Capsule Captures the Spirit of the North

It’s been nearly one year since Haider Ackermann released his debut collection as Canada Goose’s first-ever creative director—and the brand has never looked so fresh.

This week, he’s releasing his third Snow Goose capsule—a heritage label that nods to the former name of Canada Goose—and he’s once again looking to northernmost regions to draw inspiration.

In the last year, as he’s reinvented the brand’s classic utilitarian approach to outerwear, Ackermann has breathed life into the popular label. Rather than abide by the uniformity of standard parkas, he plays with bright colours, lightweight materials, and fluid silhouettes, breaking the rules of winterwear.

Each Snow Goose capsule has explored an aspect of nature that Ackermann reveres—from the isolated arctic to vast deserts—all three look to the beauty and unpredictability of nature. In his first year, he’s turned Canada Goose into a year-round outerwear contender.

In this third Snow Goose release, bright mint green and icy lavender fabrics mimic the glint of light on snow, with reflective accents to create a shimmering movement. Deep blues and blacks ground the colour palette of the collection.

Reflective linings are flipped to the exterior with the Merge jacket and pant set, an eye-catching choice for increased visibility in the outdoors.

The Thalix parka, a heavy-duty coat with a refined sculptural silhouette and the Shift anorak, featuring colour-blocked reflective fabrics offer the unexpected.

Ackermann likes to take inspiration from Canada Goose’s decades-spanning archives, while filtering them through a modern lens. The Weld Jacket, a reimagined bomber jacket with a heavy canvas exterior, plays with the company’s previous output.

A major source of inspiration for the Colombian-born Parisian designer was a trip he took in 2023 to Churchill, Manitoba—the land of polar bears and a place where a cozy parka is essential for survival.

“Winter is often imagined as a season of silence, as quiet or still,” says Ackermann, Creative Director. “But I wanted this collection to breathe, to move with the rhythm of life that persists beneath the cold and capture the pulse of life in the cold.”

As Churchill’s bears gather in the winter season along Hudson’s Bay, Ackermann plans to host a four-day expedition with an exclusive group of guests. It’s fitting that Ackerman has found a connection to the icy northern town—Canada Goose has had a long-standing partnership with Polar Bears International (PBI), a conservation group that works to protect polar bears and their arctic home.

Sustainability is key to Ackermann’s design approach—and a pillar of Canada Goose’s ethos. The Snow Goose capsules are proof that outerwear can exist in tandem with the very environment it aims to protect the wearer from.

A leading message of the collections—which can be found written on the Rigel hoodie—is “The Earth Needs All the Friends It Can Get.”

The Fall/Winter 2025 Snow Goose by Canada Goose capsule launches online globally this week before appearing in select Canada Goose stores on Nov. 18.
