Explore the Work of Award-Winning Photographer Wolfgang Tillmans at the Art Gallery of Ontario

For the first time in Canada, the work of award-winning German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans will be on display at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO starting this April). The exhibit, entitled “To Look Without Fear,” will feature ecstatic images of nightlife, sensitive portraits, architectural studies, documents of social movements, still lifes, astronomical phenomena, and cameraless abstractions. Fascinated by music and performance, the exhibition includes Tillmans’s first full-length album, Moon in Earthlight (2021) and rarely seen video works, including Instrument (2015), a split-screen projection, that shows the artist twice—as his body dances to the beat his own feet make on the floor, and as a shadow cast on the wall. His ongoing project “Truth Study Center” will also be on display.

“Wolfgang Tillmans: To Look Without Fear” is on view at Art Gallery of Ontario from April 7 to October 1, 2023
