In response to widespread social distancing, Christian Dior has decided to digitize a recent retrospective that celebrates the brand’s illustrious history. Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams was first presented at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris from July 2017–January 2018 and showcases the innovative and timeless designs of the maison’s creative directors throughout the years—from Mr. Dior himself to the most recent appointee Maria Grazia Chiuri. The collection includes couture dresses, sketches, archival photographs, complementary paintings from celebrated historical artists, as well as a cabinet of curiosity that contains a kaleidoscopic display of colours and other elements integral to the Dior legacy.
A sweeping behind-the-scenes look of the exhibition can be viewed on Youtube, while images can be found on Dior’s Instagram page. During uncertain times, escapism and fantasy are essential elements to staying balanced—what better way to distract oneself than by getting immersed in the dream-like beauty of Christian Dior.
