The Los Angeles premiere of The Drama was a masterclass in wedding-themed spectacle, leaning into the high-stakes glitz and glamour of the film’s central premise. With the atmosphere of a high-fashion ceremony, the event set the stage for a story that is anything but a traditional walk down the aisle.
Zendaya walked the carpet in a Vivienne Westwood Bridal gown pulled from her 2015 look, while Robert Pattinson wore a custom Dior salmon suit jacket with an army-green button-down shirt. He attended alongside his partner Suki Waterhouse, who wore a sculptural Harris Reed gown from the brand’s demi-couture collection.

About the Film
Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, The Drama stars Pattinson and Zendaya as Charlie and Emma, a happily engaged couple preparing to walk down the aisle when an unexpected revelation changes everything. Borgli noted that the film thrives on the friction created when a couple thinks they have reached a point of total understanding, only for the “big week” to prove otherwise. “It’s when you sort of seal the deal with someone you think you know, and there’s a lot at stake that week,” he explained.
Zendaya’s Moment
For Zendaya, this premiere marks another chapter in a career defined by remarkable longevity and growth. Now 29, she is navigating an unprecedented year with five major projects slated for 2026, including The Drama, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and the much-anticipated Dune: Part Three. Despite the massive slate, she arrived with a grounded perspective.
“I think I’m in a place in my life where I get to work with people that I really respect and that I enjoy working with,” she shared. “I have the privilege of being able to say no to things, which is cool. And, yeah, I’m just kind of navigating it every day. There’s literally no new purpose. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m just trying my best.”
How to Handle the Drama
Given the film’s title, the conversation naturally turned to how the stars manage drama in their actual lives. Zendaya was quick to emphasize her preference for a low-stress environment. “I try to avoid drama. I am not someone that enjoys partaking in drama or creating it. I’m like all chill. I want everything to chill. Everybody’s chill. We love chill,” she said.
Pattinson’s approach was characteristically deadpan. “Ghost them. I’m sick. I gotta take my dog to the vet,” he laughed. “New number who dis?”
The Cast Weighs In
Co-star Alana Haim leaned into her role as natural peacemaker. “I apologize so much. If I hurt anybody, it doesn’t matter what, I apologize. I am not above an apology. I love making people laugh. I love being happy. I’m a Sagittarius — if you’re happy, I’m happy.” On dealbreakers, she was equally candid: “If I’m in a relationship, cheating is a no, no, no. When trust is gone, I’m gone.”
Mamoudou Athie took a more philosophical approach, citing respect as his non-negotiable. “If I don’t feel like I’m being respected, how can I share this? You become less of yourself and less of yourself, and then I think you start to resent yourself.” As for his exit strategy when drama strikes? “Tell me how to get out of drama,” he laughed. “I do not know how.”
The Drama opens in theatres April 3.
