TIFF is back in Toronto until Sept. 20 for 11 days of premieres, parties and potential celebrity sightings. Whether or not you have tickets to a screening, there are plenty of ways to soak up the buzz. The city’s restaurants and hotels are getting in on the excitement with live music, film-inspired cocktails and menus ranging from quick pre-theatre meals to blockbuster-level dinner productions. Many spots are clustered near the TIFF Lightbox and major screening venues, while others are known for drawing visiting actors and industry insiders. Here are six places to eat, drink and perhaps spot a famous face.

The Hollywood Reporter Green Room at 1 Hotel Toronto
Escape the TIFF scrum between screenings at The Hollywood Reporter Green Room, popping up inside 1 Hotel Toronto’s Flora Lounge until Sept. 20. For the festival, the lounge is cranking up the glamour of its usual eco-chic aesthetic. Velvet accents, flickering candlelight and a grand piano create a suitably cinematic setting for cheffy bites and Don Julio cocktails. Walk-ins are welcome, and live music gives guests something to groove out to from 8 to 11 p.m. on select nights.

Lai Wah Heen
Lai Wah Heen, a mainstay for Cantonese fine dining, is marking TIFF with a showstopping dish. Priced at a whopping $8,888, the five-course Treasure of Fortune comes with a 500-gram tin of caviar and centres on a whole goose shaped like a bottle gourd and stuffed with eight ingredients, including dried abalone, sea cucumber and white truffle. Diners without a multi-grand budget can also explore chef Heyden Sin’s à la carte menu of intricate dim sum, as well as local meat and fish prepared with contemporary Cantonese flair.

Fairmont Royal York’s Moët & Chandon Champagne Lounge at CLOCKWORK
The Fairmont Royal York is boosting the old-school allure of its grand lobby with the Moët & Chandon Champagne Lounge at CLOCKWORK. Running until Sept. 30, the pop-up features a new menu devoted to bubbly by the glass and bottle, plus snacks spanning from easy nibbles like pomme frites to Maison Kaviari caviar and a spectacular seafood tower. Every Thursday through Saturday at 5:30 p.m., bartenders bring some TIFF-worthy drama with The Toast Heard Around Town, a presentation that sees Champagne poured down a tower of stacked glasses.

Riley’s Fish and Steak
Opened earlier this year, this is Riley’s Fish & Steak‘s first TIFF and its splashy seafood and tableside service are sure to help it make a buzzy debut. Located steps from Roy Thomson Hall, the Vancouver import looks the part with its lofty, marble-accented dining room. The $65 three-course pre-theatre menu, served daily from 4 to 6:30 p.m., leaves time to make an evening screening. Diners lingering longer can order seafood towers, lobster pot pie or prime rib carved tableside while taking in the well-heeled festival crowd.

Joni at the Park Hyatt
A longtime TIFF fixture, the Park Hyatt Toronto remains one of Yorkville’s better bets for low-key celebrity sightings. Until Sept. 20, Joni, the hotel’s art-filled modern bistro, is hosting live jazz and swing performances, alongside film-themed drinks, including the Hennessy-based Final Draft and the vodka-and-lychee Opening Scene. Upstairs, Writers Room Bar pairs its own TIFF cocktails with sweeping city views, while Stillwater Spa offers 30-minute facials, massages and manicures for a little R&R between screenings.

Nobu Toronto
Located less than a five-minute walk from the TIFF Lightbox, the Mercer Street restaurant is hosting several invite-only parties throughout the festival. Those not on the guest list for those shindigs, however, can still order the Red Carpet, a TIFF-special cocktail made with hojicha-infused Roku Gin, dry curaçao, cherry and lime, topped with a strip of berry fruit leather that mimics its namesake. With past Nobu guests reportedly including Pharrell Williams, Selena Gomez, Martha Stewart, Zoe Saldaña and Jacob Elordi, there’s a decent chance of catching a glimpse of a celeb while you sip.
