Six Tea Perfumes for Spring

The most exciting fragrance trend of the year comes from an unlikely place: your kitchen.

Whether it’s white, black, or green, perfumers are embracing tea as a key ingredient in contemporary personal fragrances. The delicate notes of various teas lend a certain level of complexity to any scent, allowing wearers to expand beyond typical floral and woodsy profiles. While certain ingredients like bergamot and Roman chamomile have long been used in fragrances, modern-day perfumery has expanded to include everything from matcha to chai.

With familiar aromas that evoke comfort and warmth, tea fragrances take their time to reveal themselves, creating a subtle, nuanced experience for those in their orbit. Consider one of these fresh and intricate tea perfumes to usher in the new season.

AESOP

Lush and bright, this scent from Aesop harnesses green tea and bergamot to create a mixture of warm spice and verdant foliage. Combined with fig, hay, and pink pepper, it’s sophisticated yet carefree—like an afternoon garden party.

Bvlgari

With notes of white musk and white tea, this Bvlgari fragrance is soft yet strong—like the sound of a bamboo forest whispering in the wind. Inspired by the whimsy of nature, it’s an olfactory expression of timeless beauty.

Phlur

Combining the earthiness of matcha, the creaminess of macadamia nut milk, and the grounding qualities of black tea, Phlur’s hair and body mist is sweet, uplifting, and unique. Bergamot, vanilla, amber, and patchouli round out the formula, creating a scent that is playful and bright.

Korres

White tea sets the tone for this Korres fragrance, which has top notes of bergamot and neroli and base notes of oak moss and cedarwood. Free from phthalates and nitro-musks, it’s clean, crisp, and just the right amount of floral.

Crown Affair

Hair need not be left out. Crown Affair’s hair perfume encompasses top notes of yuzu and lemongrass, middle notes of water lotus and green tea, and base notes of teakwood and amber. The result is an aroma that starts bright, turns grassy, and ends warm.

Le Labo

Le Labo’s iconic black tea fragrance is sensual and enveloping. Fig, bay leaf, vetiver, cedarwood, and bergamot add depth, resulting in a perfume that is at once bold and refined. It’s the scent of quiet confidence.
