Showing over 80 contemporary photographs by major Canadian and international artists, “Of Individuals and Places: Photographs from the Lazare Collection” demonstrates Montreal collector Jack Lazare’s sensitive eye and love of photography. The exhibition tackles viewers’ emotions with imagery of urban landscapes and dreamlike spaces full of mystery. Spanning over 20 years of collected artwork, it includes a series of 14 albumen prints by British photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, who sparked Lazare’s passion for photography when he first discovered her works at the MoMA in 1999.

“Of Individuals and Places: Photographs from the Lazare Collection” is on display at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts from November 28, 2018, to April 28, 2019.
