Karl For Ever: A Moving Tribute to Karl Lagerfeld

The houses of CHANEL, FENDI, and KARL LAGERFELD joined forces to honour the legacy of the late Karl Lagerfeld. The celebration was held at the Grand Palais, a venue dear to Lagerfeld’s heart, where his collections were staged against the most specular sets in fashion history.

Society figures, family, friends, and muses admired the floor-to-ceiling portraits of Lagerfeld’s most iconic moments. The 90-minute ceremony highlighted the music and literature that the late designer loved so much. Performances by violinist Charlie Siem and Pharrell Williams were followed by passage readings from his most admired authors voiced by actresses Tilda Swinton, Fanny Ardant, Cara Delevingne, and Helen Mirren.

Footage of Lagerfeld throughout his life was woven into short clips of interviews of many of the artists, musicians, and dancers who inspired his remarkable career. There were even clips of him interviewing himself, which made the final moments of the memorial end with more laughs than tears, with uplifting memories of the man whose personality and legacy will live on forever.
