New Exhibit Honours Oscar de la Renta

In October 2014, the fashion world mourned the loss of one of its greatest talents: Oscar de la Renta. The first posthumous exhibition of his career opens Thursday at the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, Georgia. Curated by fashion editor extraordinaire Andé Leon Talley, the exhibit focuses on the deep bond between de la Renta’s clients and family.

Oscar de la Renta: His Legendary World of Style displays over 70 ensembles donned by women such as Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey and Hillary Rodham Clinton. The exhibition will be a rare chance to see de la Renta’s breathtakingly romantic gowns in person.

The Savannah College of Art and Design had a lasting relationship with the designer, who offered its fashion students both internships and fabric donations. Talley, who is both a trustee at the school and an authority on all things fashion, is the perfect man to curate the show.

“Oscar de la Renta: His Legendary World of Style” will be on view at the SCAD Museum of Art from Feb. 5 – May 3, 2015.
