S/ Was There: Michael Kors Fall 2020

On the final day of New York Fashion Week, Michael Kors made its Fall 2020 Collection debut at the historic American Stock Exchange in the bustling financial district of Manhattan. The Ready-to-Wear presentation began with a musical performance by fashion’s favourite country singer Orville Peck that immediately set the tone of the show’s countryside glamour theme.

Capes, oversized luxurious knitwear, lean riding pants, and equestrian-inspired footwear and accessories were complimented with appealing fall hues that echoed the natural theme. Within the collection, classic MKC travel bags took on many new forms with considerate attention to detail, from buttery-soft leather to cowhide prints and shearling trimmings. “This collection explores that idea of getting away from it all, of taking some time to escape into nature and refuel. And of course, since we can’t all move to the countryside, we looked at how you can take that feeling of privacy and coziness and imbue it with the polish and luxury you need in an urban environment,” shares Michael Kors.

Front row A-list attendees included MK enthusiasts Blake Lively, Ashley Benson, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Issa Rae dressed in the brand’s latest fits. The show came to a close as Bella Hadid led the model finale in a hazy mist to Orville Peck strumming his heart out to “I Will Always Love You” by Dolly Parton.
