S/ Was There: Louis Vuitton Takes Flight for Cruise 2020 Runway Show

Louis Vuitton, a company rooted in travel accessories, took its Cruise 2020 runway show to a very suitable location: the TWA Flight Center at New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. The journey took place on May 8th with a collection that references Paris and New York, two essential cities for Louis Vuitton—the brocades representing Parisian history and couture, and the colours representing the lights of downtown New York City. “I was lucky enough to have landed at the TWA Flight Center in the late ’90s. It was something I could never forget. This place was forgotten for twenty years, and now has come back to life. It’s like a sanctuary that’s been revived and seeing it enchant anew in a different iteration, as a hotel, is a great pleasure. It’s about the rediscovering of an uncommon place that yet is a part of American heritage,” says creative director Nicolas Ghesquière. Amongst the plants in the scenery were Louis Vuitton ambassadors Jennifer Connelly, Ruth Negga, and Emma Stone, alongside Justin Theroux and Julianne Moore.

Following the astonishing show, attendees made their way over to MoMA PS1 to celebrate. The space was transformed into an edgy yet elegant environment topped off with food stations, lively music, and endless champagne.
